Laser
dies
are produced using state of the art technology.
All
work begins on a Computer Aided Design system and is transferred to
a CNC controlled laser ensuring an accuracy and conformity that cannot
be matched by conventional production methods.
Laserdie has two lasers with capacity up to a massive 3m x 1.5m. The
exacting specification of the laser die board enables the use of CNC
controlled ruling machinery. Automatic bending, cutting, bridging and
lipping of steel rules ensures a precise match for the laser die board.
This can be further enhanced by broaching, a process that permits the
tight bending of cutting rules up to an angle of 135 degrees eliminating
the need for joints in troublesome areas
such as magazine/jockey
slots in pharmaceutical cartons. All this adds up to a finished product
that is more accurate, more stable and far quicker to produce than conventional
dies. Laser dies require less make-ready, reduce machine downtime and
increase running speeds. Whether you are producing simple 4pp wallets,
kiss-cut labels, point of sale display units or prestige packaging,
Laserdie can supply you with quality dies at competitive prices.
Stripping
units are produced using the same technology as the laser dies.
The
CAD system automatically generates the stripping unit profiles around
the pre-generated die layout. Stripping units have changed considerably
over the past few years with new innovations coming on line all the time.
One of the more recent innovations that have been adopted by Laserdie
is the Vossen Clip Strip System the components being distributed in the
UK by CITO.
The Clip Strip system allows for the effective stripping of waste areas
that have previously been considered impossible. Laserdie ensures that
the latest innovations are available to all our customers. Stripping units
are tailored to suit each customers specific requirements. With the wealth
of auto platens that are now available we recognize that stripping units
need to be adapted to individual presses. We can supply simple female
only stripping units for you to utilize the top and bottom stripping pins
of your press, a standard male and female stripping unit, 'speed strip'
style stripping units for those awkward jobs, or Clip Strip units for
those 'impossible' jobs.
Counter
matrix are used to simplify and speed up make ready of creases on
flat bed auto or hand fed platens.
A one piece, self locating unit matched precisely to a laser die. Counter
matrix are produced on our Lasercome Gmbh dedicated router. The router
has five heads enabling the very precise routing of creasing channels.
The counter matrix material is a hard wearing pertinax, similar to the
plastic like material used on electric circuit boards.
The
counter matrix thickness and channel widths are matched to the board being
processed and can accommodate a variety of materials from folding box
board to corrugated, even varying the width of channel against and with
the grain of the board being processed to a tolerance of 0.05mm. The counter
matrix are fitted with a self adhesive backing and are registered to the
laser die using locating pins. Having located the counter matrix onto
the laser die you simply run up a single impression to adhere the counter
matrix to the cutting plate creating an exact register to the die. The
resulting make ready is second to none in a fraction of the time of conventional
methods. The hard wearing pertinax ensures the quality of make ready is
sustained even after many thousands of sheets run.
Laserdie
has a 3m x 1.5m (10ft x 5ft) sample table by Exact Technology employing
two separate cutting heads.
The
oscillating head used for cutting heavy duty or thick materials such as
display board and corrugated up to 10mm thick, and the tangential head
for more delicate work such as carton board or kiss cutting on self adhesive
film.
It
has two further heads for creasing and plotting. Samples & Films can
be supplied before committing the designs to production. Samples can be
used to check construction or the fit of a products. Amendments can be
made quickly and accurately on the CAD system and re-sampled in minutes.
Prints or proof prints can be used to create full colour samples for photographic
purposes or client approval. Short runs can also be undertaken without
the need for any tooling. Films can be used for print layout or checking
register on pre printed work. Films are produced using a 0.2mm line width
permanent ink pen on 400 micron stable mylar high trans film.
Laserdie
has a long history of involvement with CAD and design. We have developed
our own CAD system, DieMension, which is used for all design work within
the company.
This
means we have full control over how the system interacts with designers
and machinery to give us optimum performance from both. We also run IPDS
from Arden Software,Kasemake from AG Cad and Autocad 2000. Laserdies'
expertise in CAD and design work is a result of many years experience
in 'cardboard engineering'.
Laserdie
were the first laser die making company in the UK to achieve the prestigious
ISO 9001 certificate which incorporates design. We offer a design service
ranging from specialty packaging to point of sale displays. Our CAD systems
can import and export a whole range of file types. The most common formats
are listed bellow:
